Rehabilitation works of the 2nd Section (51.74km) of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Georgia border Interstate Road Started Have Commenced

A new round of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Georgia border Interstate Road (M6) rehabilitation has begun. The first phase of the construction launched in September 2016, in the Vanadzor-Alaverdi 38.45 km section, has been completed and will be put into operation soon. This year the reconstruction of the 2nd  section (51.74 km) of the highway has started. The renovation has started from the both sides of the road.

The reason of starting  the second phase construction on both ends of the road has its explanation.

The problem is that the reconstructed road section passes through many settlements, where the process of land acquisition is carried out simultaneously with road construction.

Road construction work has begun in those sections where land acquisition and resettlement issues have already been settled.

There is another reason as well. There is an intensive traffic from Bagratashen border to Noyemberyan intersection. As during the construction of the sections of the M6 highway the traffic to the Georgian border will be organized by M16 highway (M4-Voskepar-Noyemberyan-M6), it is expedient for the road construction to be completed as soon as possible.
