Design of Sisian-Kajaran Section of the North-South Road Corridor was Presented at Syunik Regional Administration

On February 13, 2019 a public consultation on the Tranche-4 (Sisian-Kajaran section) of the North-South Road Corridor Investment Program took place at the Syunik Regional Administration. During the meeting, the design of that section was presented and among the meeting attendees were Mr. Hunan Poghosyan, Head of Syunik region and representatives of affected communities. The project was presented by the staff members of the "Transport Project Implementation Organization" SNCO.

Sisian-Kajaran section of the Tranche-4 will start from the crossroad of Ishkhanasar and will reach up to Lernadzor. It is 60 km long road section. If currently the cars drive on the same 120 km long road  in about 2.5 hours, it will be further possible to shorten it up to about 45 minutes, bypassing the complicated sections of the Kapan-Goris road.

The road will have 9 tunnels, 27 bridges, the width of the carriageway will be 16,5 m, out of which 11,10 m will be paved.

The designers held public consultations in the affected communities and their recommendations were reflected in the final draft.

Mr. Hunan Poghosyan, head of the region presented a number of considerations to the specialists, in particular related to the importance of the security and maintenance of a large number of bridges. He also inquired about the land alienation and compensation for road construction.
