The government approved the proposal to sign an agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development on the provision of an investment loan for the financing of the Kajaran tunnel construction project.

It is planned to sign a loan agreement, according to which an investment loan of 200,000,000 (two hundred million) US dollars will be provided from the funds of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development for the financing of the Kajaran tunnel construction project. The goal of the project is to increase the potential of transit transportation and reduce accidents in the section of the "North-South" highway corridor.

The project envisages the construction of the Kajaran tunnel (length: about 7.0 km) and the reconstruction of the existing M2 Yerevan-Yeraskh-Goris-Meghri-Iran border section with a length of about 4 km (the entrance to the Kajaran tunnel - the intersection of the planned new road section Sisian-Kajaran).
